The decision, explained

Claim. Record. Evidence.

Our report preview shows a practical sequence: what the seller says, what the available records support, and what you still need to check.

01

Read the claim

Identify what the advert promises. A seller’s statement stays unverified until suitable evidence supports it.

02

Compare the record

Keep source wording, dates and unavailable checks visible. Missing information must never be treated as clear.

03

Request the evidence

Ask specific seller questions and take a checklist to the viewing. An assessment must explain its evidence and limits.

Interactive sample report

Explore a fictional case. No supplier lookup was performed and none of these sample values describe a real vehicle.

Ask for evidence before deciding

ON HOLD

This example has no finance, theft or write-off check, so KELNU cannot make a responsible purchase assessment. The illustrative MOT advisory raises a separate question about suspension wear. Ask for repair evidence and complete authorised checks before deciding.

This is KELNU’s interpretation of an illustrative record. In a live report, the separate Source results tab will show the relevant supplier-returned fields, original status wording, source and lookup time. KELNU’s assessment will never replace those results.

What does the advert actually prove?

Our fictional preview separates the seller’s claim, what the example records support, the question to ask and the evidence still needed. A claim such as “full service history” stays unverified until suitable evidence is reviewed.

Optional MOT wording preview

Explore selected MOT terms.

A free planning tool for selected terms—not a vehicle assessment. No MOT records are checked. It cannot confirm your input is an authentic record. Your input is processed on this page and is not submitted to KELNU; unsaved entries are lost when you reload or close it.

An explanation will appear here.

Optional search brief

Still looking? Build a search brief.

Draft your search preferences in this free planning tool. No adverts are retrieved, cars matched or live history checks performed. Copy the brief to use on your chosen marketplace. Your entries are not submitted to KELNU; unsaved entries are lost when you reload or close this page.

KELNU does not save your entries or send them to a marketplace. Copy your brief and enter your preferences yourself on your chosen website. No email or payment details are needed here.

Good to know

Questions before you decide.

Can KELNU find a car for me now?

Our current focus is helping adults prepare for a used-car viewing, whether buying their first car, replacing a car or helping someone else. You can also create and copy a search brief. Use your brief to set preferences on a vehicle marketplace of your choice. KELNU does not host adverts, return live matches or run live history checks yet.

Do I need a shortlist to use a report?

No. The planned report service would also be available for a specific car you have already found. Matching preferences and checking vehicle history are different steps.

Is KELNU a vehicle inspection?

No. KELNU is decision support based on available information. You should inspect and test-drive the vehicle and seek appropriate professional advice where necessary.

Does a later MOT pass prove a repair was done?

No. A later pass does not by itself establish exactly what work was carried out. Private garage invoices and service receipts are not normally part of the MOT history available to KELNU. Request evidence from the seller.

Can vehicle records reveal finance, theft or write-off status?

DVLA and MOT information alone cannot establish those statuses. KELNU is validating licensed provenance sources before launch and will show clearly which checks are available.

What does BUY mean?

In the planned paid service, BUY would mean the completed checks identified no recorded issue sufficient by itself to warrant NEGOTIATE or WALK AWAY. Missing or failed required checks would prevent that assessment. It would not guarantee that the vehicle is fault-free. No live assessment is available in this preview.

Driving instructors: share the free checklist

Help pupils prepare for their first car viewing.

You can share the free checklist with pupils who are actively looking for a UK used car. Their honest feedback will help us assess whether the workflow is useful.
